Hello fellow Browncoats!

The Serenity Screening is creeping closer and closer (9/25/11) so I wanted to send out an email updating everyone . Thanks to everyone who is helping out. Here is how we can make this year's screening a success.

Prize donations/Shiny objects:
We need donations for our Prize Drawing/Silent Auction which takes place right before the screening of Serenity. The ticket prices alone barely cover the cost of renting the Theater and the 35mm print of the film, so our Prize Drawing is a huge portion of the proceeds that will go to our charities. This year again we have the national charity Equality Now and locally we're supporting the Atlanta Community Food Bank. These items can be anything from the Whedonverse, be it Firefly, Serenity, Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse or Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Check out last year's prize donations here to get an idea. Keep in mind many of these items were donated by the vendor, so it can be as easy as asking your favorite vendor to be a prize sponsor.

These items can be brought to our monthly Meetup or I can arrange to pick them up from you if you can't make it to the Meetup. Please email me through this site if you have any questions.

Sponsors/Blue Sun:
Every year we have great people and businesses who help out by just being a sponsor. A big thanks to last year's sponsors. You might work for a large corporation that has a charity sponsorship program, or you might know of a vendor that that would like the publicity or you might want to be a sponsor yourself. Take a few minutes, send them an email and let them know about the screening. You can even send them to the sponsor page here. If you need help with this, let me know.

Can't Stop the Signal/6 degrees of Mr Universe:
Everyone is probably in a few degrees of someone who works for a newspaper, radio station, TV station or some media company. Ask them if they can help promote the screening of if they know who in their company can help. Or if you cannot think of anyone, post about the screening on forums, blogs, etc.

Can't Stop the Signal on Paper/Flyers, Flyers, Flyers
Hot off the presses! Well, the PDF press. We have 3 different flyers you can print out and spread around: a full page color flyer, a full page black & white flyer and a 4 per page black and white flyer. Download the pdf of the one you like best and help spread the word!

Ticket discount/volunteer rebate:
Tickets are on sale here. For a limited time both single ticket and pairs of tickets are discounted. Single tickets are $3 off the regular price of $15, pairs of tickets are $10 off (2 for $20). If we sell over 200 tickets, volunteers will be eligible for a $5 rebate. If we sell over 250 tickets, volunteers will be eligible for a rebate up to the full amount paid for the ticket. To be eligible, tickets must be purchased before the day of the event and you must be an active volunteer for this screening.

Thanks for everyone's continued support for this worthwhile event.
William

My fiancé and I are looking to adopt a dog. Not just any dog, but the right one for us. And we want to adopt from a shelter… so far, we’ve visited four shelters looking for the one that we can agree on. I don’t mind the time because this is an animal that we will be taking care of for years.

The last shelter we were at, I saw something very amazing. A man brought in his beloved dog because he had lost his job and couldn’t afford to feed her. And I watched the way the dog tried to comfort him by nuzzling his hand, by licking away his tears. I was just so ready to say we’ll give this dog a home until you get on your feet, when something just short of a miracle happened. The shelter gave him a referral to a pet food pantry.

The economy isn’t improving. Food shelters are begging for help to feed everybody- especially donations of tuna and beef stew. This is food easily turned into pet food. More and more families are facing the problem of how to feed themselves and their pets. Let’s make Thanksgiving a little extra special this year for the pet food banks.

What I want to do is set up a fan auction where I have writers, artist, crafters, icon makers and mix makers auctioning their services for a donation to the pet food pantry of their choice. This is how I need help- first, please boost the signal to every fan community you know of, so I can get traffic to fanslovepets. Second- that fiancé I mentioned? Our wedding date is 12/18- I need co-maintainers, people who maybe know what they are doing. Third- I need writers, crafters, artist, music mixers to donate their time and energy.

Fourth- I need somebody to really give me a list of current popular fandoms. And the last thing I need- a good icon.

Hi FLANS!

So, I worked crazy hard on a kick ass design for the Browncoats shirts. I will have to post the pics up sometime and hope that noones steals our Atl Browncoats ideas. Hmm, maybe I wont do that. So, now that I have a kick ass shirt out of the way, I need to focus on flyers now. I'm thinking of a POP ART design to go along with the shirt ideas. Tying in everything.

What's happening this weekend:

Event: THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON IN 3D
Venue: The Plaza Theatre
Date: May 23, 2009 1:00 PM or 10:00 PM

Last night I had a dream about Nathan Fillion and he is yum! So here it goes, he was somewhat of a friend even though we had never met. So I remember asking him if it was really him on Twitter and he was wearing his Mal uniform. Funny. I know. So we drove around and I remember thinking his eyes were amazing. Anyway he responded by saying he was a huge supporter of Browncoats and he loves his fans.

I think I dreamt this because someone told me in a comment that he was a supporter and that it is indeed him on Twitter.

Anywho, thought I'd share this. Kinda funny. I love Firefly
